Final Third held its first presentation evening at the University of Lincoln's Tower Bar, in early December as we honoured all the winners and acheivers from our two student competitions; Viva Futbol and Final Third's Student Netball League.
Around 100 participants attended the award ceremony which saw a total of 134 trophies distributed to our various league and individual winners, runners-up and most sporting participants.
With the continued success of its flagship Viva Futbol league, and the student netball league also beginning to establish itself Final Third has now begun to set down expansion plans for the year ahead. The next step for the company will be to establish its first community football league, with a suitable location for a six-a-side league already identified in Doncaster. A high quality venue has already been identified to the south of the town and so Final Third hopes to begin a Friday evening league here in January 2009.
As well as this first forray into South Yorkshire Final Third is also looking for potential facilities in and around Lincoln and Newark for the launch of similar community football leagues. It is hoped that an additional league can be up and running in one of these locations by the end of February. Although the company is looking to branch out Final Third is not one to forget its routes and so will be aiming to continue Viva Futbol and the Student Netball League at the University of Lincoln into the institution's semester B. Given the continued level of interest Final Third aims to expand Viva Futbol to 33 teams for the next season, allowing an additional team into each division, while also making an extra push for competitors for the student netball league.
