Final Third is hoping to launch its first community league in the coming month with a suitable venue in the Doncaster area now identified for our first forray into non-student competition.
Final Third this week submitted a proposal to the venue for a twelve team Friday evening league starting in November. Exact details on match times and pricing cannot be confirmed until our proposal is accepted. Keep checking this space, and we hope to bring you more news in the coming days.
Final Third has put back the launch of it's Student Netball programme to help encourage as many female students as possible to get involved. Working with the Athletic Union Final Third is hoping to expand the intra-mural programme at the University of Lincoln with a social netball league. Unfortunately, despite high initial interest, subsequent turn-out at planned taster events has been disappointing. Therefore Final Third is giving the planned league an extra push to get students involved ahead of the proposed 26th October start date.
The league itself will run onS unday afternoons (1:30-4:30pm) at the University Sports Centre. The aim of the league is to enable more female students to play regular organised sport at University and costs students just £1.50 per person per game to take part. In the UK the sport of netball has the highest participation rate amongst women at school age, but with just two competitive teams at the university in recent years the opportunity for women to continue playing the sport has been limited. This league enables many more students a chance to pursue the sport further, and also helps them to make a lot of new friends at the university as well. Any students interested in being part of this tournament or the upcoming league should email Final Third's Glen Wilson as soon as possible via glen@final-third.com.
